Like many of our students, traditional school was a drag for Soli. Until she found TSE Academy.

Before joining TSE Academy, Soli attended four different schools, each offering a starkly different approach to education. From a conservative, uniformed public school to one with a free-spirited, farm-in-the-backyard environment, Soli’s experiences were varied but not quite fulfilling. It was the shift to TSE Academy that marked a turning point for her as a middle schooler, sparking her interest and progression in her path as a creative.

At TSE Academy, Soli spends four hours per day in intellectual dialogue on a range of topics, enjoying a rich offering of electives and clubs to explore other things. There are no lectures, no “memorize and forget.” At TSE Academy, Soli discovered her passion for directing, fueled by our Video House elective. This exposure led her to identify her career aspirations in filmmaking.

A standout feature of TSE Academy for Soli is the mentorship program. Soli highlights the profound impact of her mentor, Eric Lassard, in helping her delve into the nuances of filmmaking. When asked about the peer culture at TSE Academy, the light in Soli’s eyes is apparent. “I’m so glad I get to talk about this! I’m so lucky to have students around me who are pushing themselves to achieve their goals while in class.”
“I have a few students I really look up to and find so inspiring. They’re really what makes the discussions so great. I absolutely love the peer culture.”
